Fishing for beginners

If you always wanted to go out in the wee mornings and relax on the sea or on the river while you are trying to catch something than lucky for you, we got your back. Fishing is a fun activity that you can start at any point in your life, but before you dedicate yourself to this activity, you should know all the basics about fishing and how you can become a better fisher in the future.

Do the research about the area

If you are going to get into the fishing game, you should know all there is to know about the area where you want to go fishing. What type of fish is in the water, what is the best time to go fishing, what is the best bait you can use for that location, where are the best spots to fish in that area and all other things.

Watch some videos

If you have never thrown a fish hook into the water, either go with an experienced group or watch some videos on how you can do it. The first couple of throws you will screw up so it’s no big deal but after some time you will get the hang of it. The videos will only make the experience build up faster

Get the correct bait

The biggest investment and time consumer in fishing will be to get the right bait. There are thousands of fishing lures and hooks you can get, and that should be the focus of every aspiring fisher. If you are totally out of the loop to make sure to get all the information about the area where you want to fish and then ask the seller which of the hooks and the bait can be useful for that particular fish.

Bring food drinks and a bug spray

Fishing is an excellent thing you can do if you like to relax. Adventures that you will have while you are fishing will boil down to sitting for hours and talk or relaxing while the 10% of all that time you will be jumping and trying to reel it the fishes. While you are doing nothing you can eat and drink to refresh yourself and a bug spray to protect yourself.

Biking, Biking, Biking

Whenever we were kids we would love to go out biking in our neighborhood. The activity was one with lots of fond memories and also with some injuries. However, that never made us stop biking. The thing that did though was grown up life. When we got older, we had less time to go and have grand adventures as we had to work more and during the week we would rest and catch up on trivial stuff. If you are looking to change your weekends and get into the adrenaline rush life that you once had with your bikes than we have the perfect plan for you. Everyone that loved to bike is welcome as we only request that you know how to drive a bike and that you have an open mind.

We are creating more than one adventure so if you have reservations for a specific trip you can check out our other plans.

Mountain biking

bikeThe best way to start your adventure is, of course, going to the mountains! The mountains are always filled with beautiful nature elements, and the next little camping trip that you might need might just be in the woods with us. The customization of the trip is planned out with each group days before we set out all that we need from you are medical details about any health issues such as allergies and your time. Usually, the biking in the mountains will take anywhere from 3 up to 5 hours.

City outskirts biking

There are many parts of the city where you might have never thought you can go biking and enjoy it. The outside of the city has many locations where you can pick up a group of bikers and just have fun. The more bikers come, the bigger the course for biking will be but the most important thing when gathering for these events is to remember to have fun. Whichever plan you choose with us you are guaranteed to have tons of fun while you work out your body. Welcome to your new adventure time!

Kayaking – A Fun Day Out For All

Kayaking is one of those activities that lots of people want to try out, but decline to as they may think that is too difficult or costly to get involved in.

However, these days it is pretty easy to get into kayaking as a pastime. And as for the difficulty – sure it is a physical pursuit, but with a little practise, it is quite easy to steer your kayak through the water – you will be gliding through crystal clear waters in no time!

Surely it’s Costly Though?

Nobody is saying that you simply must rush out and purchase a kayak and all the associated safety equipment, trailers for your car to transport the vessel or racks for your car’s roof.

In fact, all you need to have a great day out on the water can be hired out, pretty inexpensively, for as long as you would need. Many companies offer these services these days, so it is well worth having a little online research before you head out, and in order to get the best deal.

Is it Dangerous?

There is always a slight element of danger when it comes to outdoor pursuits, and this is no different. However, often times, you will have an instructor with you, keeping an eye on everyone’s safety and to ensure that you do not get into trouble.

This, coupled with the safety gear you will have to wear (such as helmets and flotation jackets), will ensure that you and your group will be as safe kayaking as is possible.

Is it hard to learn?

The answer to this question is – not really! Your instructor will give you a brief oversight as to how to navigate through the waters using your paddle.

Once you have gotten a handle on things, you may even find the whole experience to be quite relaxing (depending on the course of water you are on naturally!).

Your instructor will not allow you to get out of your depth (pun unintended!, and will guide you based on your level of experience, so you will not be sent into harder areas to navigate if you are an amateur for example.

Do I Need to Buy Anything?

Another thing that puts people off is the assumption that they must first own their own wet gear or safety equipment to head out on a kayaking expedition.

Truth is, the vast majority of suppliers of kayaking services will have this equipment for you, as part of the hiring package (and if they don’t, they may be well worth giving a wide berth, in honesty).

So there we have it – many of the myths about kayaking have been dispelled. There is nothing to stop you and your group getting out into the great outdoors, in a pursuit that is equally exhilarating and healthy.

There is nothing quite as thrilling as getting a handle on your kayak, and taking off through the water!

Looking to Combine Sport & Outdoor Pursuits? Why Not Try Golf? Yes, GOLF!

If you are looking to play a competitive sport this coming summer, that is both challenging AND relaxing at the same time, something that features unspoilt & beautiful scenery and amazing walks, then golf is what the doctor ordered!

Seriously, golf courses feature some of the very best scenery you will ever see in your life. Many people miss this fact because they feel that golf is too hard of a sport to get into.

Isn’t Golf Just An Expensive Hobby?

Well, both statements in the header here could be considered as true – it CAN be expensive, and it CAN be considered a hobby.

However, the expense of getting started is all down to what you are willing to spend. A very decent set of 2nd hand golf clubs however, more than sufficient for a beginner, can be obtained very affordably.

And you don’t necessarily need specialist clothing when starting out either, such as fancy golfing pants, golfing gloves and spiked shoes.

These are all items that you may find improve your game slightly although, if you’re like me, you may be happy to do without.

How to Get Started?

You will need to have clubs and balls to play. However, you may find that some golf club shops may have a rental service available for visitors to the club. If this is the case, you can avail of this service to get a feel for the game.

If you have friends that golf regularly, try and tag along with them, and ask for tips on how to play. The basics are, for lack of a better word, basic.

However, the fundamentals of the game, perfecting your stance and grip for example, can take a while and many people still strive to perfect these, even after many years playing – it’s all part of the fun, however, to see the effect it can have on your game.

Taking Instruction:

If you do not have golfing buddies, it may be worth inquiring with your local club to see if they may have classes that you could attend, that will teach you the ins and outs of what you need to know to get driving down the fairway.

YouTube is an incredible resource also, with hundreds of thousands of instructional videos on everything from the perfect grip, to how to actually drive the ball (Without taking a huge divot of grass out also!).

Here’s one of my favourite channels:

It does take a little persistence, but as is with everything in life, it’s worth sticking with it, as the end results, the sheer exhilaration of having a successful drive, or long range putt, are well worth it.

I do love golf and whilst I crave adrenaline rushes, there’s a lot to be said for chilling with friends and getting competitive on the green.

Taking in your surroundings, walking around the velvet greens and putting some balls – are you ready to get your golfing shoes on this summer?

In no time at all, you too could be bitten by the addictive golf bug and will be heading for the club at the weeknights after work to perfect your swing.

Be warned, golf is addictive!

Here’s Why Potholing (Caving) May Be The New Challenge You Need!

From time to time, I like to break away from the “norm” and really challenge myself. As you know, I love the outdoors, but sometimes, plain old hiking or mountain biking just does not do it for me.

I need something a little more thrilling, a little more physical, to get the blood rushing through my veins (along with a whole heap of adrenaline). If you are of a similar mindset to me, then maybe potholing is the challenge that you seek!

So, What is Potholing?

Potholing, also known as caving (or spelunking), is an activity where you explore cave systems that have been formed over thousands of years (if not hundreds of thousands!).

It is quite a physical outdoor pursuit that involves climbing, crawling and even a little abseiling down into these caves. It really is a fascinating and physical personal adventure, in a mysterious and beautifully fascinating environment.

So, Do You Go It Alone Then?

No – I am nowhere near experienced enough to trawl through cave systems alone. I will often head out with an experienced guide, who knows the cave system that I wish to pothole in, like the back of his or her hand.

This is beneficial to me in more ways than one, as the guide will often be knowledgeable about the cave and can provide me with an insight into how it was formed, as well as other things to look out for.

What Things Could You Possibly See in A Cave?

My friends often ask me, “What’s the fascination with exploring caves; surely it’s just rock all around you?”. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Caves host a whole ecosystem of their own, with their own unique creatures living in there. Then, there are amazing things like stalactites and stalagmites, underground rivers and even waterfalls to be discovered and taken in.

Stalactites? Stalagmites?

These are formations that look like icicles, made over a huge amount of time, by dripping water filled with minerals.

How to tell the difference?

I use the mnemonic – A Stalactite sticks TIGHT to the roof, while a Stalagmite MIGHT touch the roof some day!

What Will I Need To Go Potholing?

If you have decided by now that potholing sounds good, you may be wondering what you need in order to be able to do this activity.

Well, you will need some basics. Firstly, it is often pitch black under the ground, so you will need some form of headlamp, as well as a helmet.

A good idea is to contact local clubs, as they may be able to rent you some of the more expensive to purchase equipment.

Firstly, it is often pitch black under the ground, so you will need some form of headlamp, as well as a helmet. Old clothing is the best for this kind of exploration (At least that’s what I use), and some waterproof gear is also essential.

Avoid buying climbing gear however, as this type of kit is not cut out for potholing.

Good luck out there and feel free to contact me for more advice.
